Here's Carson!

Okay, so am I the only one who gets my reference to "Here's Johnny" (as in Carson) in the title? It's been a full night of kiddos. I'm feeling a little silly.

Anyhow, Patty sent me this awesome photo of Carson. I wanted to add him to the blog, and note that he also won his game I got to watch Saturday afternoon. (Jared's team won all three games they played! Carson won both of his!).

See the pink ice? The Carlson Center (where the UAF Nanooks play) has pink ice in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pretty cool!

My Saturday

Last year we had three boys playing on three different competition hockey teams. We spent most of our time in a rink or in the van. This year the boys all switched to football so I haven't been in a rink since April. On Saturday, my friend Patty's two boys had games here in town. I decided to make a day of hockey with Jared's game at 11:00am, then Carson's game at 4:00 (didn't have the camera) and Jared's game at 7:00pm. What a day of hockey!

This is Jared. He's 15 and plays for the Alaska Allstars in Anchorage.

(Carson is 10 and plays for the Arctic Lions here in Fairbanks).

It was great seeing Jared play again (both my older boys have been on a team with him at one point in their careers), but I'm not so sure I miss sitting in the rink all the time. Football was a refreshing change. Now I'm on to basketball and wrestling. Nice diversity.

Basketball, Hockey, Plants and Puppies!

It's been a few days since I last posted...I've had good intentions, but have been very busy.

This past week has been the U-Park basketball tournament. Sydney's team won their first game, and lost the second. Elijah's team had a bye until Wednesday. We lost by two points in overtime (I was the coach). The boys played outstanding the whole game (we didn't have substitutes, the other team had two).

Here's a photo of Syd dribbling. We don't have any of Elijah. Since I was coaching it was up to Homer to take the pictures. He got so into the game he forgot to take any. He's lucky I love him so much! :

Cody has had hockey try-outs all week, and the teams were announced this morning. He made the Arctic Lions Midget Tier II team. Great job!! (No photos of try-outs although someone did tease me that they were surprised I wasn't taking pictures of it!).

I started this post this morning, but have been continually interrupted. Elijah went to Skiland snowboarding with a friend so I had to run him his stuff. I took Cody to buy a skateboard. Had to get groceries. Emily picked a friend to come out and visit. Nick is out snowmachining with them now. Lucas needs a nap, and I have 101 things to do and am not sure where to start. Hmmmm....

Mother Nature doesn't want me to win the Ice Classic so she keeps snow falling. Just a couple weeks ago this sidewalk was was bare and some grass was showing to the left. Now I have to shovel a path for the puppies to get the the "dog yard" (no fence yet). Ruby leads the way, followed by Molly and then Sally. Rizzo is up above waiting for them.

The Hockey Boys

Here are three of the most handsome hockey players you'll ever come across...and the reason this blog was put on hold!


Elijah (left) played for the Arctic Lions Peewee Tier I team this past season. They compiled a record of 20-21-6 (they played a total of 51 games...not sure the actual league record as the stats don't seperate it out and I'm too busy to do it myself!). Elijah was lucky enough to travel to Valencia, California (with a side trip to Disneyland and Universal Studios with Mom, Nick and Emily) and Vernon, BC, Canada for hockey tournaments as well as several trips to Anchorage.

Nick (middle) played for the NAHA Grizzlies Bantam Tier II team. Their record was 9-6-2 (league games only...they played a total of 36 games this season). Nick travelled to Arizona to play hockey (or tour skateboard parks depending on who you ask) and we took a day trip to the Grand Canyon which by-the-way is NOT warm in December! He also had multiple trips to Anchorage.

Cody (right) played for the Arctic Lions Bantam Tier I team. They finished 14-7 in league play and had 39 contests this season. Cody travelled to Detroit, Michigan and Edina, California with his team for tournaments. I went with him to California for Regionals (we also took in a day at the beach and Universal Studios). Don't forget his multiple trips to Anchorage.

So as you can see I was the lucky one who flew out-of-state four times (Nov, Dec, Jan & Feb) and I went to Anchorage 6...7...8 times...not really sure, but a heck of a lot! It seemed as if I was gone most of the winter, and when I was home I was catching up on laundry or whatever else was neglected during my travels. I also posted photos on Elijah's team site as well as photos and stats for Nick, Cody and the Ice Puppies websites. That left my own blog untouched!

I wish you all could see the great things we have done, seen and experienced this winter, but it is too much to go back and show so I'll just move forward from here. You can look at the Arctic Lions websites for hockey photos, though.

Those boys made us proud this season, and this is going to be one of my all-time favorite photos.
