This "little" lady was standing along the road on our way to Valdez last month.
Normally a moose will just stand there and let you take their photograph, but she was a bit jumpy and ran.
But not very far. She's standing just on the other side of this brush, but is almost invisible. This illustrates just how easily moose are hit....flying by at 60mph you wouldn't know she was there, but if something spooked her in a flash she'd be on your hood.

They are soooo big.
Lovely hots of "the king of forest", as we say in Sweden :-)
Great shots of a huge animal! Heard lots of stories about them but never have seen one in person1
Lovely animals of the north! I have seen a few in Canada on our visits. Beautiful captures of this skittish one!
Moose are one of my favorite animals. Great capture of the female moose. Thanks for sharing your critter.
I'd love to see one this close. A slightly strange looking beast, especially that head, but wonderful all the same
wow wouldn't want to meet up with that in the middle of the road.
Moose are so ugly they are beautiful. Magnificient animals and very unpredictable in rut. Enjoyed my visit.
Blessings,
Mary
Beautiful photos. Maybe she has a baby back in the brush.
Hitting a moose would be a really bad accident. Be careful!
Oh, those beautiful ugly animals. I love them - when they aren't chasing me!!!
Thanks.
wonderful captures! though sad to know how they get to be victims..
I was so excited to see you were from Alaska. Everyone tells me it is the most beatutiful place! I am a follower now so I can see more photos :-)
Looks like you had a real close encounter :-)

Yikes. I'm worried enough about hitting a deer when I'm on back roads. I don't think I could take the possibility of hitting a moose! What gorgeous pictures!
