Oh So Busy!!

I feel like time is slipping away. A week goes by before I know it. I have a list a mile long and it's getting long. I could use a time out.

Thursday night I coached Lucas' first soccer practice. I had no intentions of coaching soccer, but when I checked with the association no one had picked up the stuff for his team which leaves me to coach it or the team folds. Of course, I picked up the equipment. Soccer practice was a nightmare of over-excited 6-7 year old boys who weren't listening. It was really loud in that gym. I really regretted even signing up. You know... these things are much harder at 45 than they were at 35 when I was coaching Elijah.

Friday Elijah played a game at Lathrop. We lost by 4 points. He was up against this big guy all night long. They were very physical and it was a tough game.

Saturday morning Lucas had his first soccer game. I went in to it thinking it would be a disaster after the practice we had and was surprised. They listened. We won 6-0. I forgot Lucas' tennis shoes at home. Thankfully, the school we were at had a rack of "shoes to borrow". They were too big. He was awesome playing goalie, but when he tried to run out they fell off. *sigh*

After soccer I raced home to bake rhubarb crisp for the dessert auction to raise money for Elijah's basketball program. Ran it down to the school and then went shopping for Super Bowl Sunday. That was a nightmare as the stores were full. It was food stamp day. Wish I had one of those debit cards. Ran the groceries home, picked up Emily to take her to my niece's so she could go spend the night at a hotel and swim for her cousin's birthday. Went to another store with the Wee People to get the last of the food. Ran it home and then I was off to Elijah's home game against Hutchison. We won by 20 or 30. He played really well again. I am so proud of him.

Sunday morning Olivia was up early to help me cook for our Super Bowl Food Fest. I look forward to this every year.

Tisha made some potato skins.

I made Bam Bam Potato Salad....

Homer cooked up the Honey BBQ chicken wings....

We made 7-layer Taco Dip....

Tisha made homemade chicken nuggets....

I tried pizza dip in a skillet to spread on bread for the first time. That was awesome!!

A little bit of fruit to balance things out.

This is buffalo chicken dip.

Pulled pork sandwiches. Couldn't you just eat those every day?

The girls and the feast...

Game time!!

Cody, Trudy and Nevaeh cheesin' for Grandma.

I do this party for Nick and his buddies. I don't even know if they really care about the game, but they come for the food. We even had some prizes.... a couple dollars, a five, coupons for 2-dozen homemade cookies and the grand prize of $20. It was fun. Andrew stopped by after the game to eat.

 My niece Tisha.

And my love.

Monday was a day off from school so we laid around and didn't do much of anything other than one quick trip to town for Emily's orthodontist appointment. She got a thumbs up as she is doing a better job brushing.

I should have ordered my seeds by now.... Spring is coming.... I could use some time to take a deep breath!  Okay... gotta run. :) How was your Super Bowl weekend???

You amaze me each time I read
" The daze of your life",!!!
days so busy, family trips all over, games, coaching, and the wonderful food. I hope the roads are less icy, you get a chance to take a breath now and then, and order some seeds. We had 4.9C early today, at about 3 a.m. clear sky, starry night, then come 8 a.m. up to 8C and clouds. Leaves have fallen with the dry conditions, almost like autumn/fall is near. Take care, you and yours at TWH, greetings to all from Jean.
