Beyond Exhausted

I’m behind. When am I not? Today was clean the pool day, but my helper didn’t show up. Well, that isn’t the whole truth. He showed up at 5:00pm after it was done. Can’t say I was thrilled.

I raked and raked leaves out of the water/sludge. Packed them out of the pool in 5-gallon buckets. Pumped water. Used the shop vac to suck up the sludge (rotted material) and learned that it is really heavy to carry out. I thought I was going to hurt myself. And I may have.

After 5 hours of back-breaking work I had it ready to pressure wash. I set up the pump in the upper pond and went to work. I quickly discovered that apparently the handle is broken. I do believe more water was spraying me than the liner. That water is straight out of the well and can’t be 40*. After an hour I was completely soaked to the bone from the waist down and so cold. I’m still cold.

At that point it was time to give up and take Elijah to his last game where he sat on the bench – AGAIN – and was just the designated hitter. Hard to swallow. He’s by far one of the top four on the team. Very athletic and a good ball player, but since he doesn’t LOVE baseball and isn’t playing next year I think they just tossed him aside. As he would say, what evs. I watched a lot of mistakes that led to a loss and I really think he could have helped the team.

But that aside, I still love this kid. As much work as he is, as much trouble as he gets in to, the fact that he makes me cry every single day….. none of that really matters. He’s my son and I love him. (Can you tell he went to the barber and got his mullet perfected?) LOL

It’s going on 1:00am and I’m headed to bed. I’m beat. Didn’t get home from the game until after 10. I had to then email Lucas’ soccer team that I’ll be coaching. Time to shift gears and get that going. Practice Monday and first game Tuesday. Oh, and that mess about the ankle monitor is then, too. Tomorrow I have to finish the pool. Homer will hopefully get the power steering working in the dump truck. He intended to fill the pool starting first thing in the morning, but unfortunately we aren’t ready. He has Monday off so fingers crossed we can do it then. I’m heading to bed knowing my greenhouse is parched and it will keep me up all night, but I just can’t make myself go out there for a couple hours. Physically…there’s nothing left.

Oh and the Senior Programs I made were absolutely awesome. And I think four parents thanked me. Such an appreciative bunch. Now to edit hundreds of photos to burn cd’s to give the same appreciative parents at the BBQ Saturday that my kid can’t/doesn’t want to go to. When am I going to plant my flowers?

No sweat people. One more week of killing myself and then maybe I can just enjoy the summer with my kids. I haven’t slept in a tent in years. It’s about time.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend. :)

gayle, any chance you could lay an old salmon net in the pool next fall after you pump out the water,,then gather the edges up next spring and lift it out with the loader bucket,,?? get the leaves in one net full,,?? only speculating,,i don't have any idea if it would work,,but packing the stuff out in buckets is to much work !!!!

Cleaning out that pool has got to be back breaking work. I don't know how you do it. I know how much I hate opening our pool each spring and getting it ready, and its no where as large as yours. And did you say tent?? Is a camping trip on the horizon?

Is that a swimming pool or a fish type pool? I am in awe of your efforts re cleaning it out!!!!!! Be careful of shoulders etc with all this work. They can catch up with you later. I know :-(
