Fall is Good With Sunshine

The view this morning....

...same view ten days ago. Everything changes pretty quickly around here!

Didn't I just rake that pen? All those leaves will be great for the compost pile.

Yesterday was a beautiful day so full of sunshine. I had the three youngest home. They were just run down and out of steam, I guess, so no school. Couldn't even coax them outside and they spent the whole day laying on the couch. Of course, that meant I could get some work done in the yard.

Those petunias are reseeding everywhere! Although the photo is deceiving that is growing off the bank of a 15 foot slope down into the trees. I'm thinking I should harvest and sprinkle seeds all down the ditch line across the road.

Look! It's another skier. I'll see them almost daily until it gets icy.

That's the new bed I put in, but never did find rhubarb plants for. Now it is just full of chickweed growing from the compost I added. The greenhouse was never finished and it grew a lot of weeds, too.

I already have a full trailer load for a compost bin! I'm making a new one away from Daisy since many of the plants from the gardens are poisonous for her.

The dead flowers on the bottom left and another bed to the right you can't see are cleaned out, turned, broken up and leveled. To look you would think it would be nothing, but most of the beds are about 20 feet long and 4 feet wide. It takes forever to clean up. For now I am just doing the ones that are dead or don't look so good. The yellow grass looks awful, but I don't want to fertilize this late in the year or I'll risk getting snow mold and damaging the lawn. I do need to do one last mowing though.

Dad and I took a couple mile hike through the woods last night looking for cranberries (I forgot the camera). We never take (or have) the time to do that kind of thing and it was awesome. It was quiet, peaceful, beautiful and gave us both much needed exercise.

Here's little Miss Smiley this morning on her way to school. She's such a sweetheart.

Well, it's now noon and the only thing I've accomplished is sending four kids off to school. In four hours two will be back so I'd better get a move on!

I love your view and the leaves turning gold already.
Garden and house work is never ending. My policy is to avoid it whenever possible!
Little Miss Smiley sure is sute. She looks happy to be going back to school.

Wow! Those trees are changing fast! I've forgotten how quickly they change when the temps go down. I've been in the south too long! However, I just got tickets to Montana for Christmas. My DD has been wanting to go, so it'll be a white Christmas this year. We hope. May not be any snow, but I know it's going to be cold!

I love your views too and am enjoying seeing the trees change color, as it's not something we get to enjoy down here in s.e. FL.

Your temps sound great to me. I can see your gardens are finishing up their glorious blooms for you.

Have a great weekend.
