Spring Has Not Sprung

This is pattycakes flower pot. It's been sitting by my front door for two years waiting to be returned. I'm really bad like that. I decided to fill it with my blooming-too-early lilies and had Homer drop it off for me as a peace offering. I wonder what color these ones will be?

Little Miss and Mr love "doing school". Here she's working on ending sounds.

I am so far behind in my planting. It seems there are so many other things to attend to plus my little helpers slow things down a bit. I'm going to be several weeks behind in many varieties!

I love our wood heat. With that said I am sick of chopping wood. I do not care if it's great exercise, it sucks. That fireman's axe is too heavy, I don't swing hard enough half the time and this wood is green and is hard as a rock. We are down to green or rotten wood and trying to get the fire burning is a 2-3 hour process. Really fighting it this morning. I have my eye set on a $300 wood splitter. Saving my nickels and dimes now. And since I'm working with Bernie's motto of "There's no such thing as a bad day" that will be the end of my complaining, and I will be thankful I am able to chop wood. *with a crabby look on my face*

The wood thing was irritating me so I went and scraped the little bit of snow off part of the sidewalk. The other part is much deeper and I left that for a warmer day. The wind has been blowing a lot lately, and I really don't like wind. This morning it was 13* here at the house and zero in town. I am so over winter and ready to move on.

Little Miss Olivia loves the snow and playing outside. The cold doesn't seem to bug her one bit. I'm the wimp.

Last night was the Open House at Monroe Catholic. Homer, all five kids and myself went down to look at the Kindergarten program for Olivia. She was so excited and so was Lucas. We ended up taking him to see the pre-school room, but I'm still undecided if he'll go. I don't think I'm ready for my last baby to leave the house all day long, but that is being so selfish. He is so ready. When he got home that was all he could talk about...when he could go to school again. Emily spent the next 1.5 hours going from presentation to presentation for the high school classes Elijah will be in next year. She really liked the school, too, but wants to wait until 7th grade before she enrolls. She'd like to finish up Elementary where she is at and then transfer to the private school in two years.

Well, it's finally Friday which doesn't mean a whole lot since hubby works on Saturday's. Big snow boarding competition for Elijah tomorrow. Wish it was warmer. I think last year it was almost 30*. Time to get moving. If I sit here much longer I'll fall asleep. I've been averaging five hours of sleep a night, and that's not quite enough.

I hate chopping wood too. A wood splitter is the way to go.
I had problems when Lyli went to preschool for 1/2 days too...and the year they were all in school all day long was HARD. I got used to it just in time to start homeschooling. LOL. I hope it warms up for you, its cold here today..but its supposed to keep warming up this week and by Easter weekend it should be close to 60*. Im looking forward to it...Im so done with winter too.

I'm a little worried about you chopping wood with only 5 hours of sleep! How do you do everything you do? I am in awe of you!

If Matt didn't chop all the wood, our wood stove (which I love) would be useless. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to let Nate go to school.
