Chicken Order Completed!

Look who is coming to The White House! I placed my order with Cackle Hatchery in Missouri and the chicks will arrive in 2-6 weeks. Hopefully, sooner rather than later. If you are wondering there is a feed store here in Fairbanks that sells chickens, turkeys, geese and ducks. I do like to support local business (I buy all my feed and supplies from them), but I can't get the breeds I want. Their bantam chicks are assorted so you get what you get and you don't know what you've got until they grow up. I am raising these to enter into the State Fair and wanted breeds that you don't see as often. I ordered 15 of the Light Brahma laying hens and 5 of each of the Bantam breeds (straight run) for a total of 50 birds.

They are all beautiful! I think my favorites are the Golden Laced Cochin Bantam Rooster and Hen and the Black Tailed Buff Japanese Bantam Rooster and Hen. I hope they all do well for you.

The different varieties are so pretty! And they are all so diverse. Good luck with them this year. Keep those nasty dogs away!!

Didn't something happen last year... I forget (old age) but did some bird of prey make off with some of your chickens last year? I love that Wheaten!

Beautiful birds, but the little puff-balls you'll start with will be cuter!

Did you build a better coop, so the local dogs dont get in there? I was so sad for you when that happened last summer.

Congrats to you on your new family members! I can't wait until they grow up and you tell us all about your State Fair Ribbons!

Black tailed white japs were my favorite back when I lived at home! We also had black tailed white jap frizzles. They're rare here, and I'm not sure if you could find them or not, but basically their feathers were crinkly.

Lots of cute bantams. Reminds me of living at home! My dad has TONS of bantams and all different types of chickens!
