Ester Cookie Exchange

This was from the other night. We actually did sit down to watch Transformers.

Well, Dad didn't quite make it to sitting, but he did wake up from his nap! :)

Ruby helped with my baking yesterday. More like....she tripped me every time I turned around.

Mixed up lots of cookie dough...

for 6 dozen oatmeal raisin cookies and 6 dozen sugar cookies.

and 7 dozen Mexican wedding cakes. The kids sure love that moon sand.
I'm thinking about charging him rent for couch space. Now he's sitting around in his underwear. Good thing he isn't old enough to drink beer. Why do I have the feeling this one is never leaving home? On-the-other hand my Princess (most of the time) was willing to help me frost the cookies.

Wrapped and ready to take to the Ester Community Cookie Exchange. We took 8 dozen with us.

The kids sat right down with the boy and girl who live next door about a mile down the road.

Folks bringing in more cookies and Lucas trying out one from the first round.

Nick ate so many by the time we got home he said he never wanted to look at another cookie again!

Names were put in a basket and those that were drawn (and I think they made sure each kid was) got to reach into Santa's bag for an ornament.

The way it worked was everyone got up, circled the table taking six cookies. Then they drew three names. Then we got up for six more cookies and so forth and so on. You kept joining in until you had taken as many as you brought.

The little three had a great time and the teenagers humored their mother since they knew how happy it made me to be doing something as a family. When we got home Emily finished up the cookies.

Here's a shot of the extras I baked plus the assortment we brought home. Now we have 19 dozen cookies to eat! Ewwww.... lol

Wow, what a wonderful assortment of cookies and you sure had great helpers too. It's nice to have a 'family' night, and I'm sure your teens will look back in years to come with fond memories.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Nick and Elijah totally have that 'I am here because of my mom' look on their face! I love it, only because I see it so often from my boys. Sad to think I was probably the same way with my mom at that age! geez!
Great cookies though!

Hi Gayle, I have been following and enjoying you blog for quite a while. You are a very busy woman! I am always surprised to see the temp and then I see your children dressed in short sleeves. How do you heat your home? Your photos of the countryside are beautiful.
