When's Spring?

I've had quite a few inquiries as to when our snow melts and it's Spring. This gave me an excuse to spend a good part of my day going through photos to show you.

April 17, 2002
This is Elijah driving a remote control motorcycle in a parking lot along Geist road in town.

April 26, 2002
Up on the shady side of the hill (at our first house) you can see there is still a lot of snow.
May 20, 2002
Snows gone, but Nick is still practicing shooting pucks.

May 28, 2002
The kids wearing shorts (in town) at Alaskaland.

May 11, 2003
Nick building a garden dome at our second home.

April 17, 2004
Emily ice fishing at Chena Lakes.

May 3, 2004
Boy Scouts last meeting (that's me in the middle and Nick to the right with no shirt on).

May 17, 2004
Last day of school...Nick in the red hat. The grass is growing and the trees have leaves.

April 12, 2006
Dad and Olivia at our home now.

May 26, 2006
Flowers I got for Mother's Day. All the trees have leaves.

May 9, 2007
Olivia and Daisy when we first brought her home.

May 9, 2007 at 9:41pm
Elijah skateboarding down Isberg in front of the house.

April 12, 2008
Nick skateboarding behind Safeway.

April 14, 2008
Dad, Lucas, Mom and Olivia at home. See how our snow lasts a bit longer than in town.

So there you have it. Most of the snow is gone in town by mid-April, and by the beginning of May it will be gone at my house. The danger of frost will not pass until after the first week of June so we can't plant outside until then.

I get the idea that even when it is 50 degrees, you guys dig out the shorts and short sleeves. How warm does it get up there anyway?

I still need to come visit in the summer sometime, but I have no desire to do the winter thing. 20 years of Wisconsin winters have left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Ack! It sure is pretty, though, isn't it?

Gayle...Nice sky photos above and thanks for giving us a better sense of your weather here. So, sometime in April the snow usually goes away??
