You Have Got to be Kidding Me!!

2:19 pm. April. Eleven to be exact. It is snowing. I cannot take anymore snow. NO NO NO to the SNOW!
BTW it is 73 degrees in Brookings, Oregon at Granma's and Papa's. That's not even funny.
What is it that I am being punished for?

Losing the Battle

This morning I ask my husband "How much laundry can one family have?" to which he replied, "Are you talking cubic yards or what?" (Not amusing).

This week the laundry is winning. On a rare occasion I win. I know this because Cody will say, "Oh, I see you're winning the laundry battle". And then I get some sort of kid-praising-the-mom comment. Then I lose the battle again.

There is a cubby to the right...that is laundry spilling out of the baskets. The pile on the dryer is clothes waiting to dry. Straight ahead - blankets.

No matter how many hundreds of hangers I buy I do not have enough. Partly because two boys in particular cannot take the hanger from the rod to remove the clothes...they tug on the clothes thus breaking the hanger. Maybe this is why we used metal hangers when I was a child. Anyhow, I am currently washing, drying and piling the clean clothes on my bed (there are far more items here than it appears).

After basketball practice (I coach Elijah's team) there will have to be a stop at the Hanger Store. If not this will all end up their bedroom floors and back in the laundry baskets without being worn. (By-the-way, boys do not know the difference between white socks, jeans, shirts and towels which is why they cannot be expected to put these items into the right laundry baskets. I think it is a genetic disorder that cannot be changed no matter how many times you assemble in the laundry room and give them instructions in the most sarcastic tone possible). The second part as to why we do not have enough hangers would be due to my dear friends Patty and Becky who are kind enough to send clothes our way. While it becomes a party splitting up the clothes, it turns into an unsuccessful hanger hunt to put them away! Thank-you ladies (I think!). :)

Side note: Are Pocsalopes (Popsicles) a breakfast food? I mean, really, who decided breakfast was cereal, toast, eggs...lunch was sandwiches, etc?? In my defense, learning was involved. Livvy said "Lukey's is a star" and asked what she had to which I replied "A triangle". Learning shapes is a good thing.

The Hockey Boys

Here are three of the most handsome hockey players you'll ever come across...and the reason this blog was put on hold!

Elijah (left) played for the Arctic Lions Peewee Tier I team this past season. They compiled a record of 20-21-6 (they played a total of 51 games...not sure the actual league record as the stats don't seperate it out and I'm too busy to do it myself!). Elijah was lucky enough to travel to Valencia, California (with a side trip to Disneyland and Universal Studios with Mom, Nick and Emily) and Vernon, BC, Canada for hockey tournaments as well as several trips to Anchorage.

Nick (middle) played for the NAHA Grizzlies Bantam Tier II team. Their record was 9-6-2 (league games only...they played a total of 36 games this season). Nick travelled to Arizona to play hockey (or tour skateboard parks depending on who you ask) and we took a day trip to the Grand Canyon which by-the-way is NOT warm in December! He also had multiple trips to Anchorage.

Cody (right) played for the Arctic Lions Bantam Tier I team. They finished 14-7 in league play and had 39 contests this season. Cody travelled to Detroit, Michigan and Edina, California with his team for tournaments. I went with him to California for Regionals (we also took in a day at the beach and Universal Studios). Don't forget his multiple trips to Anchorage.

So as you can see I was the lucky one who flew out-of-state four times (Nov, Dec, Jan & Feb) and I went to Anchorage 6...7...8 times...not really sure, but a heck of a lot! It seemed as if I was gone most of the winter, and when I was home I was catching up on laundry or whatever else was neglected during my travels. I also posted photos on Elijah's team site as well as photos and stats for Nick, Cody and the Ice Puppies websites. That left my own blog untouched!

I wish you all could see the great things we have done, seen and experienced this winter, but it is too much to go back and show so I'll just move forward from here. You can look at the Arctic Lions websites for hockey photos, though.

Those boys made us proud this season, and this is going to be one of my all-time favorite photos.
