Remodeling = No Fun

Quick update because I should be painting…not on the computer.

Homer started removing the ceiling stuff for the eventual stairs. The beams have proven to be the trouble maker for other places we wanted to put them. We decided to put the stairs in the middle of the family room separating it into two areas. No supporting beams had to be cut…..just a cross beam.

What a mess trying to remodel an area that really isn’t meant to be remodeled This going to be a lot of work. I can honestly saying building from scratch is a lot easier than changing what you already have. Buying an already done home is even easier! lol :)

After exploring the ceiling he worked on the wall. This area needs to be sheet rocked before the landing goes up to it. He got further last night, but I don’t have another photo. Homer works hard, but progress is slow when you have so many kids to give attention to as well.

My job was to find keys and keys I found. I was able to change around four doorknobs so now our home can be locked for the first time in 8 years! It’s not that we’ve been robbed, but it seems with the desperate times more and more people are becoming victims. No need to help the criminals.

I also decided to finally finish one of the upstairs bathrooms. I really do not like painting so I have put it off for six months even though we have had the stuff. First I had to tape the room. Then Homer removed the toilet and put down plastic. Then I put Kilz over the stain on the trim and little E’s written by Emily when she was little.

I finished covering the marks and painted with primer. Homer sprayed a couple repaired spots with “bumpy stuff” so it would match the rest of the wall.

Today I will paint the walls, ceiling and trim so he can put the room back together. I also started painting three doors and have to finish them up. Did I mention I don’t like to paint? I have procrastinated long enough…..

Painting isn't my favorite chore either. I don't actually mind the painting.... its just all the prep and clean up that take all the time!!

Hoping to see that ceiling work turn into your inside staircase!!! Homer is awesome!! And you rock!!

Wish I were there to help you - I don't mind painting at all! I'll bet you're excited to be starting on the stairs. Your Homer is a blessing! What a great guy.
