Busy!!

Honestly, you can't even see the rhubarb through the weeds! Having a hard time keeping up with it all this year.  I did get it done and now am deciding if I should mulch or not. I have some sawdust/wood chips (won't buy the bags at the store...cheapest I could find was $5.50 for 2 cu feet) and straw. Hmmm. What to do. Seriously, we need to finish that siding, too.

Worked feverishly around the yard on Wednesday and then we were off. Elijah had basketball at UAF (the girls ran in to use the bathroom)

Then Lucas had team soccer photos 6:20 so I got his paperwork all done and coached Nick at 6:00. Dad showed up to do the photo thing and take Lucas to his 7:00 game because my games don't get done until 7:45. This was a horrible game. The other guy got stuck with all young players so it was like a high school team playing a junior high team. I went down to seven players, he had ten (should be 11, but it was all he had show), they passed the ball at least five times and kicked with their opposite foot and we still won 10-2. And we have to play the same team on Monday. Not fun. After the game we ran and took our team photo. What a busy night!!

Grandma Debbi and my niece Tisha both watched Lucas play. I just love family!

Tisha came up to the house after soccer. I picked some swiss chard to saute with onions, garlic, artichoke hearts and Parmesan cheese. Spread that on a pizza crust, topped with mushrooms and mozzarella and we had a wonderful late snack!  Also, made pepperoni pizza for the kids. None of us had ever had chard and we loved it. I'd like to grow more next year.

First thing Thursday Emily and I set to working on her greenhouse. We had such a great day and it was sad when she had to leave. She really wanted to finish getting things set up.  Here she is cutting stakes for the tomatoes.

I'm trying to teach her everything I know (which isn't enough) about gardening so hopefully she'll enjoy as an adult as well.

We shovelled a lot of dirt and packed around a lot of plants. Here she is planting cucumbers. I forgot to take a photo of the inside so that will be coming.

My turkey keeps flying out of the pen. She's in search of a male turkey. Good thing she just lays down when you walk up to her so she is easy to catch.

Texting and helping me move stuff. Elijah's strong muscles come in handy!

Love is....making a homemade pizza at 10:30pm for your son to take to work the next day. I am so proud of him. He works ten hours a day six days a week. I am so thankful that his Dad was able to get him such a good job and get him started out in adulthood on the right path. Homer has taught his boys what hard work is by example all these years and apparently Nick was paying attention! :)
