Progress!!

The view from Emily's room....  it was grey and cold this morning.  It was hard to get excited about working outside, but Homer and I did it anyhow.  There were moments of sunshine that felt great, but for most of the day I was cold!
Dave brought his son Dawson over to saw up some trees that were dropped last summer.  I'll have the boys set up my splitter down in the hole and work there.  Then they can use the 4-wheeler to haul and stack it. We'd really like to fill in this area this summer so Homer can put up his shop.  One can always hope things will work out.

There are a few more to the right and once that is cleaned up there are five more to cut down. (The hole and amount of fill is far greater than this photo is letting on).
I spent a considerable amount of time pressure washing the rocks and liner that you can see here.  What a miserable job in the cold.  The water was freezing and I couldn't feel my toes.  I should have had wool socks in my rubber boots.
I wanted to get that part of the rocks done so I could spread some soil and plant grass seed.  Every summer we are never sure what we are going to do around the pool so we do nothing.  It's muddy and ugly so I've decided to plant some grass and we can always change it later.  It will make quite a difference in how things look.  (Look back at the first photo and imagine that all green around the rocks).
Homer worked on the greenhouse roof.  What a pain. We don't have a lot of options for shopping in this town so it took awhile to work out the kinks.  The ridge cap and the roofing didn't match.  Why do they sell two different kinds?  He managed to get some of the roofing up, he'll have to do something different for the ridge cap and then work on the other side.
He had to stop for the night to change my tires.  I still had my studs on and today was the deadline to remove them!
There's still a little bit of snow on the hill, in half the pond and patches up on the lawn, but it is almost all gone.  A couple good days of sunshine would do it.
I just finished watering the plant room and I'm exhausted.  A long day working out in the brisk air.  I need to look over Elijah's homework and then get some sleep!

Hurray for you Gayle. Land after so much snow. Your greenhouse is coming along, and bless your DH's heart for making it come together. You sure are going to love having that. I hope the workshop will come together for him soon too.

I can just see your flower beds filled with blooms, and it won't be long now.

Hopefully it will be warmer today for you.

I thought I'd see a post about Obama or Bin Laden when I read the title.

I love using the pressure washer! I do all the decks and siding a couple times a year heck I'll spray anything...lol...but your right it's a miserable job in the cold.

WE are also "trimming" trees so they don't grow all crazy. We want one tree, not a dozen in one spot.

We are back to school from spring break and it's May, the ground is still a bit frozen but I need to get some hedge ordered. We have been talking about it for 8 years and this year I'm doing it!

I'm catching up on my surfing. You've been very busy. The yard is shaping up nicely. Nice to see most of the snow gone. Looks the your greenhouse will probably winter over much better next year with a roof. Very cool!

Wow! You have been busy! Nice to see land - not snow.

How does your pool work? It looks like it would be hard to get in and out. I can just see me trying to climb out. . . Also, how do you keep it clean? Is there a filter system? Do you use chemicals? I bet you and the kids are getting excited to use it. I have always wanted a swimming pool. Not apt to happen at this stage on my life.

Wow-did that snow melt fast! I love your pool. That shot from the side with all the rocks really shows how big it is. I bet that is SO much fun to swim in.

There is always such a bustle of activity at your house. I'm amazed at how hard you work.
