Have An Ice Day

Yesterday started out with some Wii and cleaning. I was the one cleaning.
I made Olivia a new hat Sunday while watching a movie.  Such a character!
Nick has been growing his hair out to get dreads.  He's been wanting them for a very long time now so whatever floats his boat is fine with me.  Apparently I have paid too much money at a salon for a bad job.  He hasn't come home to show me yet, but he said they are falling out and we're going to have to fix them. Also, I'm sure they don't look so great....dreads take a least a month to do their thing. All I can say is could they look much worse than this hair? :) *edited to add...they didn't do crap at the salon except coat his hair with beeswax and twist.  That works with ethnic hair, but for his hair you have to backcomb. A lot.  I combed his dreads right out...kind of...which I shouldn't have been able to do. I went to the store for beeswax and rubber bands.  Drove back home because I forgot my wallet.  Went back to the store and now have the stuff.  I am currently watching a video so I back comb correctly.***

I transplanted a few Livingstone Daisies yesterday and that was it.  We had bigger and better things to do...
...like take my kids to the Ice Park.  Well, three of the five anyhow.  Teenage boys could care less about ice carvings.
My beauty.
My other beauty.
My beast.  Just kidding.  Kind of.
Heading into the big ice maze.

These are not the best photos of the sculptures.  The sun has already done extensive damage to them.  Honestly, we should have gone a couple weeks ago, but they do have photographs of each one when it was done on a display.  If you are interested you can see the sculptures in all their glory here.

They built an ice skating rink and have free loaner skates, but none of the kids wanted to skate.

This was the high light of the day for the kids.  Even for Homer, Travis and Tisha.  For me, the constant worrier, it was Anxiety Heaven.  Hurling your small child down an ice slide with the potential of death is not my idea of a good time.  In fact, we went two years ago and Lucas was almost taken out by another sled so I refused to go last year.  This year....well, I snatched a small child from certain major injury as he stepped in front of Emily, Justise and Jadyn's sled.  I slipped, fell and hurt my back and I wasn't even sledding.  I was just trying to walk to the bottom of the slides to snatch children from death.  Emily banged her knee and has a bruise.  And Lucas ran past Travis' out reached hands to dive head first down the slide Tisha was already on to slam his forehead into her elbow as she unsuccessfully scrambled to get out of the way.  And that was the end of that.
I made a little video of our Ice Adventure.  It's taken me all day to figure out how to get it on my blog.  Seriously!!  Hope you enjoy it!

The Ice Park is very interesting. I will look at their site tonight when I have more time. I agree with you, it looks dangerous. What does the sign say in one of the photos - Danger something? It is beautiful but I would rather be on the beach! lol

The ice park is very cool. Only thing close I've seen was "ICE" at the Gaylord Palms in Florida - they "cooled" the auditorium in 9 degrees and had ice sculptors for China turn it into a frozen wonderland. They too had a big slide.
