Five Awesome Kids Live Here

How quickly a week can  pass.  Last Tuesday Emily, Olivia, Lucas and I drove out to Eielson AFB to watch Elijah play basketball.  That's a 78 mile round-trip from my front door to their front door in not the warmest temperatures.  Dad came out after work and picked up Elijah and the Wee People so they could go home.  Em stayed and helped me take photos of the Varsity game.  She was really getting into it and just the two of us hanging out was fun.

Wednesday-Friday I was frantically working on the basketball program. Thursday I stepped outside to get you some -30* below photos with the intention of blogging them, but I was just so busy.

The cold temperatures turned the soft snow to ice crystals.

Then I got sick.  Then I got sicker.  Sunday I didn't move from the couch, well, except for that trip to town to pick up Elijah.  Sports, school work and friends... that boy requires a lot of time, but he's worth every minute we give him.

I don't think I've ever had my energy zapped like this.  Our morning is starting earlier with Elijah having to be at the school by 5:55am (thank goodness for Dad)  so by the time the last kid was off to school I was wiped out and sat on the couch. Then I showered and that wiped me out again.  Now I'm trying to pick up the house a little, but really just want to go back to bed.  Nick was an A+ son yesterday doing multiple loads of laundry for me so everyone could get dressed today.  He's always been willing to help out on the rare occasions I get sick. In an hour I've got to go down to the school and take JV team photos.  Then I think it will be back to the couch for one more day of rest.

Olivia, I'd really rather you didn't scooter across the linoleum in your "crash helmet", but are you going to stop?  Probably not.  Elijah is 15 and he's still doing it. Those are the moments that are far more important than a scuff-free floor.

Oh my eff on a stick. I will shut my mouth about how cold my neck of the woods is.

I would like to experience that kind of cold...one time. Maybe I'd love it. Who knows ;-).

We're still sick around here too. Get well!
