Need More Hours In My Day

This isn't supposed to be a *nice* butt shot of my husband although it is.  (If he read my blog...which he can't anymore because he is working himself to death to provide for his family...he'd be mortified I posted this.  Glad he won't see it. :) It is supposed to show you floor preparation.  So I ambitiously put on my to-do list the linoleum not knowing we had to scrap up all the bumps in the concrete.  So Homer, a little bit of me and a little less of Nick scraped.  Well, mostly Homer did as he is kind of a perfectionist about these things. That was last night.  Then we went to bed.

I'm not sure why I thought letting Millie have run of the house at night would be a good idea, but I did.  The last time she kept me up all night.  This time?  She did great!  (Lucas and I camped out on the couches last night with her).  She slept all night, I think, and woke me up at 8:30am by sitting on my head to let me know she had to go out.  I hope it goes as good tonight.  She's grown so much and she's only 5 months old.
I wanted to change out the chicken coop sawdust, but it was damp.  How does one dry sawdust at -20* below?  Spread it on the heated slab, of course.  No, it didn't make it to the coop. In fact, a lot of stuff didn't get done that I had intended.  Did I fail at my to-do list?  Yes.  Am I a failure? Nope.  Just transfer it to next week!  Unfortunately, spending about five hours with Elijah on homework sucked up the time, but it was totally worth it.
So while I did some laundry and homework with the kid my dear husband put down some flooring where we had cleaned.  Is it what we want permanently?  No, we'd like wall-to-wall carpet.  But is it awesome?  You bet it is.  Beats the hell out of concrete any day!  Can't wait until there is more done.  I guess that means I'll be scraping and scrubbing a new area tomorrow.
Back to that to-do list.  After five hours of homework and four hours of tweaking a basketball website (am I an idiot or what) that didn't leave me much time.  I seriously contemplated cutting out photos at this hour (12:39am) just to have accomplished more, but thankfully I came to my senses.  So I just blogged and now I'll sleep.  Tomorrow is a new day.  And that new day happens to be our beautiful little Olivia's 6th birthday.  Did I bake cupcakes for school?  Nope, failed that, too, but there's always Fred Meyer! :)

So now I will go snuggle under warm blankets. It's been cold for a week or more and is supposed to be -30* or colder in town (-20* here today) for at least another ten days. Brrrr!  That wood that I cut to last until Monday.  It ran out yesterday.  Nick got me some more.  Then Homer did.  Now that's my chore in the morning.  So glad I have the boiler to fall back on.

Oh Gayle ~ Your temperatures sound brutal. It is predicted to get down to 25 tonight and with the wind that we are having feel like it's 10. I sure hope it doesn't get that cold. It didn't get as cold last night as they said, so maybe they'll be wrong again.

Your floor looks wonderful and I know you all are going to love it. It's a job remodeling a home, especially while you are living in it, but it can be done.

Hope you got a good nights' rest and have a nice day today.

That floor is going to be great. We are on our way into some very cold weather too...but not as freezing as yours!

That linoleum looks fantastic! I'm not a huge fan of it either, but when you have a bare floor that needs something temporary, it certianly does the job. I really like the colors you picked too..nice and warm :)
Five hours is a LOT of time to be spending on homework, have you talked to his teachers? Lyli was spending hours at a time trying to do math at the beginning of the year (she's much younger than ELijah though) and when I told the teacher she said "no more than a 1/2 hour on homework". So we did what we could, listened to her moan and complain about not finishing it for an hour...and now she's caught up with her math facts and finishing all of her homework withing that time frame. I think she's an exceptional teacher though (and after my experience with public school's, I don't say that lightly). It's just a thought.
Millie is HUGE!! I love her coloring and she looks like she's going to be a great dog :)
Happy Bday Olivia!!!

The floor looks great (and so does your husband's butt, since you brought it up!). Love the photo of lucas and Millie. She looks like such a good dog.

I like the floor - it has the look of pavers but I suspect you won't have to deal with sand between them when you sweep!

You really make me feel bad for complaining about our Florida weather. Your below temps are brutal! You are a brave soul to spend so much time outside and running everywhere with the kids. You are an awesome Mother!
