Bizarre Weather

It's worth repeating.  I do not like the "new" blogger.  Photos do not drop where I drag them and I'm wasting a lot of time.

Sequence says 7 and up, but this little five-year old loves to play.  Can you see where she beat me?

Last Friday night/Saturday we got a ton of fresh snow.  For the first time I actually found it beautiful!  The boys got to snow machine and snowboard/ski.  It was great.

I finally got all the chickens inside.  They are warm and dry.  We still need to build nest boxes and roosts, but that will come in time.

So life was good until this.  Early Monday morning it started raining. It should not rain in November in Alaska.  Unfortunately, they didn't get schools closed fast enough so Elijah actually went in on the bus.  By noon Homer had crawled his way to the school and safely brought him home.  (That's a 2-3 inch deep puddle on the sidewalk we navigate to the upstairs.)

Due to rain, rain and more rain we are all inside.  Emily and I decided to decorate for Christmas.  It looks like a bomb went off.  See the boys sitting on the couch playing xBox not even noticing us!

Monday I had to get the deck cleared off.  It is 60'X8' and that was too much wet weight.  The girls and Elijah helped me while Nick cleared off vehicles and moved some things in the yard.  By the time I went in I was soaked to the bone.  Monday night at 11:50pm we lost our electricity.  We didn't get it back until 11:50am Tuesday.  I've discovered that our big old house of seven doesn't have a single flashlight or candle.  Who knows when my van will ever make it out again, but I see some shopping is in order.

Tuesday I spent another 3 hours out in the rain getting wood and cleaning off the trampoline.  Guess what? The one who never gets sick (me) is sick.  So far I have nasty sinuses, scratchy throat and plugged ears.  Elijah has had it for two days (so I think that is where I got it), Emily sounds snotty this morning and the Littles are coughing.  BUT.... none of us are letting it slow us down.  Emily and I have created quite a disaster that we need to clean up before tomorrow!  Having all my kids here...even with the fighting :)...has been wonderful.

Bizarre for sure...and that wet snow is so heavy! We had some rain and temperatures near 60...then it went down to the mid 30s today and was very sunny. Beats the rain.

Glad you will be together for Thanksgiving. If I know you, there will be tons of good food. Enjoy.

Oh my gosh, what weather you are having and look at the size of that icicle Emily is holding. Sheesh. I do hope all of you feel better real soon.

Have a nice day tomorrow, a day filled with love, laughter, and good food.

Love and hugs ~ FlowerLady

My goodness!!! Stay warm and stay safe.

We have yet to see our first snow and I would not complain if we missed snow altogether this year.

We are having a lovely overdue rain.

Happy Thanksgiving.

The snow photos look beautiful, but the rain sounds like a slippery mess.
Hope you guys don't get too sick. Yes, lots of candles are a good idea for those long winter nights, if you happen to have some without power!

I forgot to add, Happy Thanksgiving!
