Tye Dye

This morning I made Nick bacon, eggs, toast, potatoes, pancakes with a big glass of apple juice. THIS is the breakfast of champions! :) (I am scared of him growing up and moving away, and I won't get this chance for much longer).

My husband bought me this cool smoke stack indicator thingie. (That's technical terms). As you can see here my reading is "creosote". Not good. The truth is my wood sucks. Several years ago we asked three boys to bring the wood out of the "hole" to dry, and they ignored us. Of course, they were more than happy to ring up a huge debt for trips to Minnesota, Detroit, California, Arizona and Canada to play hockey (and we are still paying today), but they couldn't carry the wood. Well, two of the boys are bringing the wood up now, but it is wet. I'm having a hell of time getting and keeping this in the burn zone with with wet wood.
It's still cold and I am sick of it. Really. Enough is enough.

Out my window...the sun is showing its face more and more each day...but it is still cold.

Hubby brought home a discarded stained queen sized comforter. I decided to dye it purple for the kids. My washer was not big enough for it.

We ended up with totally cool tye-dye. Couldn't have done this if I tried, and of course, all the kids like it and want it!

Another day gone by. Nick took his brother to the high school basketball game and then drove him to his basketball practice. Dad and I played with the little ones and watched "regular" TV...something we never do. *

*edited to remove the complaining. I'll save it for another day.

Hi Gayle,
I sure know about trying to burn wet wood, it sucks! I'm sorry the boys aren't more helpful. Not that you asked for any advise but if they were mine, they wouldn't get another dam thing unless they started doing their share. YOu reach a point when enough is enough. Obviously you both have reached that point.
I'm sorry things are so rough for you both....wish I could give you a hug and send you some warmer weather!! One thing about ours, it always has to warm up to snow :)
Hoping today is a better day -
love the tye dyed comforter :)

That is some breakfast you made! The only time I do that, is for dinner.
You are going to have to start black mailing those boys into doing the wood. If you bring in a couple of days worth, it will be dry by the time you need it. We have a roof over the porch behind the kitchen, so we stack it under there. No wood, no transportation. You are such a generous Mom. As for our green grass, I welcome the break. I want you to know that this is not a typical thing for January... Have a great day.

I won't leave my parenting oppinion cause I'm stuck with the toddler, preschooler age craziness rigth now. I can't imagine teenagers, so all I can say is I'll say a little prayer for some peace and respect in your household.

The wet wood must produce a lot of smoke. Maybe you could bring some in to dry before burning?
Love the tie-dyed quilt!

My boys would eat the breakfast everyday if I made if for them. The tie dye looks great!
And yes, going on about day 7 or 8 of indoor recess....warm up already!
