A Slow Sunday

Yesterday was a beautiful day...about 75 degrees with a breeze. We probably should have been hard at work building something since it's my hubby's only day off, but instead we played. I think we should do more of that.

First we looked for one of those digital thingies now that we are one of 8 million without television. Of course, you can't buy them anywhere. I don't even care. The boob tube is overrated.

Then we went out to Risse's Greenhouse for seed potatoes. I realize I could have used the ones growing in the pantry, but this is more fun. Of course, I forgot to take photos of the beautiful greenhouses (there are 10+ of them!), but the kids loved it.

On the way back in to town I took a few photos of some farmland along Chena Hot Springs Road for Lori at Skoog Farms.

The clouds were just amazing.

If you make the photo bigger you can see the herd of horses.

We stopped at Ballaine Lake to let the little ones ride their bikes. They had so much fun.

Lucas rode the trike with the bent handle bars...he just can't quite reach the peddles on his new bike.

The wild roses are blooming like crazy everywhere we go. Here's the corner of the property (Daisy's house is in the background).

I need to pick some for jelly, but I'm having an issue finding free time to do it.

Olivia helped plant Calwhite potatoes. I'm trying trenches for this bed.

It's finally starting to get green around the house.
We've had a lot of fun the last two days finding big ants under the rocks and feeding them to the chickens. It hilarious how fast they are snatched up. He's such a good Daddy.
Last night we went down to the elementary school to play. There was a lot of laughing going on.

At 11:00pm last night I started watering the garden beds. The sun was still shining brightly on the tops of the trees.

Looks like you all did have a fun day. And yes you should do more of that. The work will always be there!

I'm glad you had your play day. Your photos shared lots of lovely scenes. I love those wild roses, and it's always fun to see your kids having fun. Must be nice to have such long days... as long as you don't feel you must work from sunup to sunset!

Beautiful countryside. Love the pics of all the green, growing things. The kids (and hubby) look like they are having a grand time!! Yes, there should be more playing, more fun, less work! Your gardens are starting to perk up and you are definitely getting into the green. Lovely area where you live.

Wow, you live in paradise. You have a sweet and happy family. Play is good. We got one of those TV boxes awhile back. We rarely watch TV so haven't checked it since the changeover. DH said we'll have to do that one of these days in case we want to check the weather. :-) We live in hurricane territory.

Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady
