You're Gonna Miss This Moment

Pam hosts You're Gonna Miss This Moment each Saturday, but you can post throughout the week. Besides all the lovey-touchy-feely stuff, raising kids is hard work. It can be very frustrating. I like this meme because it causes me to slow down in the middle of chaos, and instead of screaming at the top of my lungs about how they kids are driving me crazy, I scream about what I will miss about this moment.

I will miss this boy....

...playing this game...

...that he loves so much.

The Interior Youth Basketball Association just held the end-of-season tournament. My son played in the advanced division of 7th-8th grade boys (he's in 7th).

He worked so hard in this game, and I am so proud of him!

The team took second to a team that had an undefeated season. They had a horrible start...down 22 to 4 at one point, but going into the 4th quarter they were only down by 3 points. Unfortunately, this is a team with some very talented players, and they just couldn't pull it off. We lost by ten. A lesson was learned: Free throws make a difference. Had both teams made all their free throws we would have won by four. We lost by ten. That gives you an idea that we were not a free throw team tonight. This gives Elijah something to work on all summer (although he didn't shoot one free throw all game).

2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th...really doesn't matter much to me. Two things happened: Elijah got better and he had fun. That's what matters to me.

And why will I miss this moment? Because it isn't going to happen again until the Fall (unless we find some mini tournaments to pick-up in this summer). I'm Gonna Miss watching him play. Of course, we are now on to volleyball. *sigh*

How true that you have to pay attention and appreciate all those special times with your kids. They grow up so fast!

Yes, handsome boy! Thanks for the comment! one who's also 16, that's gotta be hard! That seems so far away to me, but really I know it will be here before I know it!
That's awesome that he truly enjoys playing and you enjoy supporting him! I haven't been faced with it yet, but I'm sure lots of activities can be taxing. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Gayle,

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving some encouragement. You know, I'm often not a get-down-on-the-floor-and-play kind of mom, although I would like to more, but I had a great time with the boys and their legos. Excuse the run-on sentence. I would highly recommend it and I am taking my own advice, too.

Alaska, huh? Sounds so exciting! Did you say you have 8 children? Impressive!!

BTW, I am missing my boy playing basketball because in England it is not a sport they play much at all, if any. He loves to play and was on a travel team for the past 3 years. We will be here for 2 to 3 years which means he is missing out ALOT!!

Take care and I'll stop by again for sure. :-)
