Introducing....

The World's Toughest Butterfly!!
I walked into the kitchen and saw this on the floor...

...then it moved!

Note the missing piece to the bottom of the left wing which prevents her from flying.

The Wee People loved her!

So is it a butterfly from last summer that has been sleeping somewhere in the house? Or is it a newly hatched butterfly?

put it on a plant now and then and you'll be shocked how long it will live.

How pretty. I love being able to show my kids nature up close. I agree with queen size funny bone. Give it a safe place to live, like a plant!

Such sweet pictures. Delicate things can be so tough at times.

Just caught up on all the pictures. You all have way too much fun!

I think it is actually a species of moth. Just something about the shape. But that is SO amazing - there in the middle of the frozen tundra, you've harbored a creature of summer. Yay!

Very cool. I wonder why it is surviving in this weather.

It's all cozy and warm in your house. Surrounded by love it will survive the long cold winter! A very lucky creature!

Wow - I've never heard of a butterfly living in the winter - especially somewhere like Alaska!

That is so cool. Don't you wonder where he/she came from? There must be an empty cocoon somewhere. Thanks for sharing.
