Anyhow, it can't snow. Not yet. We are not ready. Let me tell you why....
1. It can't snow because the pool is still full of leaves. Actually, I took this photo yesterday before I cleaned. It is much better now, but still not ready to freeze.
This is the culprit. I don't trust myself running a chain saw, but I do have a gun. Maybe I could shoot the tree. I realize that won't keep the leaves from falling in the pool, but it sure would make me feel better. Damn thing!
2. It can't snow because I finally got one sunflower to bloom after two summers of trying. I don't want it to freeze. Looks impressive, huh?
3. It can't snow because this pretty little girl will be forced to actually wear something more appropriate for the weather. (The sunflower really isn't all that impressive...in fact, it is pretty small, but I still love it!)
4. It can't snow because then these sunflowers will never have a chance to open. Oh, who am I kidding? They aren't going to open anyhow. It's too cold and there is no sun!
5. It can't snow yet because then this balmy temperature shown this morning at the coffee shop will be a thing of the past. It would actually get cold enough to put on a jacket. Ewww.
6. It can't snow this weekend because this good-looking guy has his semi-final football game. Worse yet, the championship is the following weekend. Any idea how hard it is to throw the ball with frozen hands? (Photo by Olivia (3) while driving home from football practice last night).
7. It can't snow this weekend because the driveway is only half-done. If it snows the roads will be too bad for Mr. White to drive the dumptruck. Chena Ridge is very steep. I do not want Spring break-up to come and the driveway to be muck. Again.
8. It can't snow this weekend because the semi-van is still blocking the garage. I don't want to park in the snow. Again. All winter. The snow has to wait for us to dig up the fuel line, run a new fuel line, insulate that garage wall, put all the boxes back on the shelf, haul the gravel to finish the yard and move the semi-trailer. Oh. I guess I'll be parking outside again this winter.
9. It can't snow this weekend because I don't have my studded tires on the van yet. I drive a 15-passenger van without 4-wheel drive and live on top of a big hill. I need my studs. Every fall it snow-rains...I guess that would be called sleet....and I can't drive for a week until it gets really cold and the road gets a packing of snow for traction. If it snows before Mr. White comes home who will drive the kids?
10. It can't snow this weekend because I am not ready for six dogs to be in the house full time. Are you kidding? I will never be ready for that!
11. It can't snow this weekend because no one has boots to wear. Okay, that's a lousy excuse because is the last 15 years of having kids there has not been one snowfall that I have been prepared for and bought the boots ahead of time. Alaska is a state full of people in denial. If we ignore the signs maybe it won't snow. Hasn't worked in the past, but I keep procrastinating every year in hopes that this will be the year I have the powers to delay winter. (I'm an idiot).
12. It can't snow this weekend because I'm pretty sure Mr. Rooster and his two lady friends are not ready to be locked in the barn. I'm also pretty sure I'm not ready to try and catch them and lock them in the barn. Need some entertainment? It doesn't get much better than watching me chase chickens! Unless it's goats...that's pretty funny, too.
13. It can't snow this weekend because I don't like snow. If it snows that means I am inside until April. I'm not ready to be locked inside. Are you?
Okay, now go check out the other Thirteeners while I get to work cleaning the yard before it snows!

This was hilarious! It is still over 100 here in AZ, I dream of snow. My list is here: http://www.audrakrell.com/2008/09/thirteen-ways-t.html
Your leaves are already falling? Ours haven't even turned yet, and it's been getting pretty chilly at night.
LOL...I laughed all the way through this...unfortuantly by #13 reality had set in and I realized that I'm just as unprepared as you are. Where did summer go??????? My sunflowers JUST opened too...now there is supposed to be a huge frost tonight and I'll lose them all :-( *sigh* I need to live somewhere that has an actually growing season...this is ridiculous! :-P
great TT :-)
I liked this list. Hope there's no snow. When I was a freshman in College (in Pittsburgh!!) It snowed the first weekend of October, but being dumb college students we all said It's TOO EARLY TO BE SNOWING so we wore our shorts and short sleeve shirts.
The cold I got from this was truly amazing....
Snow...? Wow, I am still wishing it were cool enough to turn off the air conditioner all the time.
Great list and I hope that there's no snow.... or even heavy frost!
My TT list is up also at A Grown-up. Stop by when you finish prepping for the snow.
SNOW! Eeeek. I'm ready for Fall but not for snow..
Funny, funny list.
Snow. Yikes. Ohio is exempt this year. I hope.
This is a great post. I like it a lot.
You can come and visit me with our 90 degree weather and the AC on the fritz! But hey, I would rather be here than in the snow. Here's keeping my fingers crossed for you that it doesn't snow this weekend--or for many weekends to come!
Excellent list! Wonderful sunflower. I can't even comprehend 39* =8^0 You need a pool cage.

I loved the photo of the leaves in the water! I am anxious to see snow though, it has been two years for us!
Came over from TT. My first TT post this week. I love your blog and your list! Had me rolling! Very creative..loved the photos. My list is not nearly funny or interesting but I do have some other posts you might like.
Hope you can enjoy Autumn a but longer. That is my favorite and in OK I can expect the snow to hold off a bit longer!!
I busted a gut reading your post! LOL I love snow - we don't get much here in NC. I will say a little prayer that the snow will hold off for a while....
PS Love the pics too!
