What Happened to August?

August 2....

This hill used to be grass, but was very difficult to mow. Then the moss took over so last summer we covered it with fabric. I never got around to moving rock and the sight of it drives me crazy.

This is the progress I made that day. Each rock is loaded into the trailer and then unloaded onto the hill. They are fist to dinner plate size. Such a slow project.

Emily had the semi-final soccer game and I didn't have time to make dinner. We stopped for pizza on the way.

She really played so awesome for her very first year. They won the game and were headed to the Championship!!

August 3...

The head referee was so official when bringing the teams on to the field. I haven't seen such formality in 15 years of soccer.

They lost the Championship 2-0, but played hard.

This zucchini is over a foot long and you can see where the moose step on it walking through my beds.

After the game we came home to do some yard work. We have had the most beautiful summer where it was hot, hot, hot every day. That is wood off the big bank that we needed to haul. Emily helped me.

Picked some goodies from the garden... peas, carrots, onions, banana peppers, bell peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes. I love fresh produce! What we get in our stores is picked green and ripens in a truck across Canada.

I love sauteed zucchini with tomato sauce.

The beauty of Alaska.... double rainbows at 10:00pm at night.

A good omen over The White House?

Mandy and Millie resting after playing hard.
