Keeping Busy

I’d like to begin by welcoming Jean to my blog. She is a new follower from New Zealand. That sounds so exotic to me!

Walter's CompassHer blog is “All Points of the Compass”

Sometimes I take photos that I intend to share, but forget. I made a dish of apple crisp the other day. I know I’ve complained about it before and I am going to do it again… why do the Honey Crisp cost so much? They are the best, but it was a little over $5 for these two apples for a dish that was gone instantly.

Sophie is always so happy to see the girls (or just about anyone!). Such a loving dog.

004

Emily, Lucas and Olivia painted frames the other night. Now to print some photos for them.

005

I am behind in my gardening already. How did that happen? I have seeds that need to get into the dirt… hopefully I can get the lead out tomorrow. I have done some soil mixing (that takes forever) and some transplanting. I transplanted 66 Impatiens Pastel two days ago, more yesterday and planted some seeds today. I’ve got to get organized!

008

These are Emily’s Blue Gourami’s.

001

These are Zebra Danios. We got some new fish today, too. Of course, I didn’t have my camera, but it was fun watching Elijah, Emily, Olivia and Lucas pick out what they wanted for their tanks. I’ll take some photos tomorrow to share.

003

I cleaned Em’s room yesterday. What a spoiled girl. I didn’t touch Elijah’s. Just closed the door. Two nights ago I walked into his room to a strong smell. I asked him what it was. He tells me cologne. I asked him why he sprayed it. He told me it was because “it smells like ass in here”. I’m going to tell you right now this is my 4th teenage boy to raise and they are disgusting. Rude, crude and smelly. All.The.Time. Heaven forbid he just take the load and a half of dirty clothes on the floor making his room smell like ass to the laundry room. Much quicker to mask the smell. (Now you know why I closed his door. He can clean his own room. Or live in it).

Girls smell nice and everything is so pretty. :)

008

This was the view out Em’s window yesterday. We got another inch of snow. Like we don’t already have enough.

009

A few days ago (owl in the tree post) I bought a dresser off a friend for Em’s room. She loves it. Would you believe two drawers are socks. She must have 75 pair. I’m not sure why.

011

Yesterday my dear husband came home after 19 days working out-of-town. Finally!! So glad to have him back.

This morning (not really….it was 11am) Lucas had a soccer game that I got to coach again. I forgot the balls and goalie jersey at home. Nice.

The boys did great and really listened to me. They put into action some of the things I have been teaching them and we won the game 4-1. It’s kind of cool that our only two wins came from the games I coached. I’m sure it is just a coincidence, but it still makes me smile. :)

When I picked up the dresser Becky threw in some games as well. We’ve been playing them all week. Tonight we played Scene It? which was about Disney movies. Some of them we hadn’t seen so we made our own rules… do overs and close-enough guesses, but there were a few times that Olivia and Lucas surprised us. (I did not know warthog was in the vocabulary of a 5-year old Kindergartener, but it is).

The first game was Olivia and Lucas with Olivia winning just barely. Nick and Nick showed up so my son, Emily and I played. I won, but just barely as well. It was a lot of fun.

I wish I would have taken the little camera today. After the game Homer took us all out to lunch at Food Factory. He and Elijah got to watch the end of the Duke/Florida State game. After that we went to Wal-Mart for the fish and that was fun. Then we went to Lowe’s for wood to build bedroom walls. It was funny watching Emily inspect the boards with Homer. She even caught him taking one that was twisted. At home Elijah helped pack them in so he could get some funds for an activity. Today was a pretty awesome day…even with all the bickering between siblings. :)

Well…some of the crew went to bed. Nick and Nick are watching Dirty Harry. I should hit the sack as it is midnight, but really 1:00am. Tomorrow we are doing some wall building so I need to be ready to clean.

Can totally relate to the teenage boy bed room thing! When the smell starts to creep OUT of his room his father tells him to clean it!! In the process he nearly burns out the motor on the vacuum cleaner and leaves copious piles of dirty laundry on the laundry floor.

I'm amazed at how much snow you still have. We didn't get much to begin with and it's been gone a long time.
The kids did a great job painting their picture frames.
