Bring It Mr. Frost

Put my yogurt in jars today. It’s more runny this time because I added vanilla and sugar for something other than a tart flavor. I love it. It would be perfect for breakfast with some strawberries or bananas and granola. So far I am two for two with homemade yogurt and don’t plan to buy it again any time soon. There are so many ways to flavor (honey, Jell-O, jelly, fruits) so we have lots of things to try. For now, it is just going in smoothies that the kids have at least twice a day!

Made a small batch of muffins and then laughed. These with last only a few minutes in a household this big!

002

The kids were out last night so this morning it was all me. I did some laundry, emptied three buckets of “stuff” upstairs and then they came home. Emily had a new scarf Debbi made her. She said it only took her about an hour. Sure wish I could crochet. It is velvety soft and beautiful!

003

Olivia jumped right in and did all her homework.

004

Lucas did his as well and then laid on the couch. Apparently, he threw up in the night at Grandma’s and was pretty puny the rest of the day. Same thing that happened with Olivia the other day. I suspect he will be fine in the morning as she was.

005

Emily was nice enough to let her sister play games on her IPod. Crazy how things are so different for my kids compared to when I was their age.

006

My niece, Tisha, cooked her first turkey tonight and then brought it up to the house. I made some mashed potatoes, Emily put together a salad and we heated up corn. Oh, and made some gravy, too. It’s so wonderful to have family dinners. I wish we lived in one big ole house and ate together every night. I’m totally into the idea of commune living…we gather, but have our own space. So much better than going days with seeing each other. Modern American life (kids leaving the farm) is not been a move in the right direction as far as I’m concerned.

After dinner we played some games of Blockus. Such fun that anyone can win at…. even Lucas!

010

I love, love, love when they get along. Those moments are few and far between with their personalities and age difference…but every now and then…

012

I also spent several hours on bills. It takes so much time to scan, record, put into spreadsheets and document…. and of course, I’m the half that has to do that. Must be nice….

It’s still cold. I guess it is –41* in town and it is –28* here at the house. It’s all good, though. We are Alaskans and we are tough (makes me giggle…politically many of you don’t like Sarah Palin, but I can tell you she can handle this cold! LOL). :)

Sooo… no my life isn’t perfect. Got lots of stress….kids get into trouble…people want to cause pain to my family for their own gain…and my dog poops on the floor…

But guess what? We had an awesome day…all seven of us with 3 other family members and no amount of drama can take the joy away.

Can I get an Amen? :)

Yeah, so Sarah Palin can handle the cold, but the real question is...can she take the heat?

Ha!

I've been in a muffin making kick lately. Kids eat them up so fast, I can't ever make enough!

AMEN!

Don't you just love it when the stars align and you have an awesome day? This is the 3rd post I've seen in the last day with something about crocheting in it. I had just downloaded a video about learning how to do it. I think I want to give it a try.
