Pickles, Pickles, Pickles

It took three hours, three stores with two small children in the pouring rain to get onions, jars, spices and a food processor.  We got what we needed….finally….but it wasn’t fun.

The fact that there were 125 cucumbers on the table that needed taken care of meant nothing to a six-year old so we paused to put on nails. She’s so girlie!! :)

Olivia went on a field trip on Friday to Mrs. Roth’s garden. I really wanted to go, but I was dealing with Sophie and couldn’t. Each child got to bring home the makings for soup. We picked up meat and she made her dad some stew.

It was awesome!

Homer didn’t get home until after 9:00pm last night. He went to help a friend get settled after having double knee replacement. While he was gone Millie was making quite a racket. I ran out to find a moose eating the broken tree by Emily’s green house. (It was really foggy and dark so the flash makes it hard to see).

Bread & Butter Pickles take forever to make! So labor intensive. I finished  12 quarts of those and 3 quarts of  Crosscut Pickle Slices Sweetened with Honey.

This morning I worked on Dill Pickles, but now I’m headed outside. It isn’t raining and the cucumbers will wait a few hours.

Wow, look at all those wonderful pickles.

How neat that Olivia made that wonderful stew. I've been thinking about making soup in the crockpot the last couple of days, even though it is hot and miserable still down here.

That moose picture is really neat.

Lots of love and hugs to you, Homar and your kids. Keep the love flowing with each new day.

That moose certainly feels comfortable at your house. P.s. hows your son doing?

Those pickles look great - someday I'd like your bread and butter pickle recipe. Do you can with a pressure cooker or do the rolling water method?
