Equate Snow Flurries With Pain

I'm beginning to get irritated with the chicken coop.  I just want it done already so we can work on the house.

I bought paint at Home Depot the other day.  Porch Ceiling was the color and it should have been light blue.  It was dark grey.  The first can she mixed was pink.  The second can was grey, but she assured me it would dry blue.  Wrong.

This time I went to Lowe's and got Porch Blue.  It is light blue, but it is pretty obvious the temporary lighting in the coop is awful.  It really is blue.  I think.

A little tidbit from my too many hours of research on chicken coops, design, color, etc. is that in the south they paint porch ceilings light blue.  The hornets and wasps think it is the sky and don't build nests there.  I also learned that blue is a very calming color so those are the two things that fueled my decision to pick what I did.  Can you imagine my giddiness when I read the label: Porch Ceiling.  It was an omen.  HD promptly rained on that parade, but Lowe's followed up with a similar name and saved my story.

Another side note:  Yesterday when I picked up the roller to paint I had shooting pains in my hands.  It was a struggle to finish the whole room.  The radio went to weather when the lady says to expect snow flurries tonight and tomorrow.  Duh!  My hands could have told you that!  This morning my fingers are stiff and painful, my feet hurt and my lower back.  All I can say is I am so glad I don't have "bad" arthritis.  I can't imagine the pain some must be feeling today.

Yesterday I made ground beef jerky.  It will not be winning any awards.  It tastes like the hard crunchy part of the meatloaf.  I'll eat it, but I will add something to the rest of the meat before I start the second batch.
It's going to be a long stiffly moving day.  I have half the wood chores done, but my back was screaming for a break.  Off to see if I can finish.

I think someone should invent a full body heating pad. Feel better.

Is painting the interior of the chicken house a functional or aesthetic thing? I have never heard of this. Does it make the chickens lay more eggs?

I hope your hands are better. My son-in-law has rheumatoid arthritis and is in much pain most of the time. It is a very crippling disease.

I've recently started taking bio-flex, a glucosamine complex, and to my surprise, it helps! Without it my hands are often useless, with it they work like old lady hands. But they don't hurt as much. It's worth a try.

Interesting that a blue ceiling should keep the hornets and wasps from nesting. I never would have guessed. Hope you finally get the color right for "the girls".
Sorry to hear about the arthritic problems.

Those chickens are going to be living the life! I like the new "blue" better than the grey/blue. Hope your hands feel better. I don't have that problem in AZ, but I did in MT!!

I am sorry you hurt so much. You should be living in a warm, moist climate... just sayin'! Thanks for the information on Porch Blue/Ceiling. The first day we have a freeze, I will brave the perils of actually using my front door, take pictures, and show you why I am thanking you!
