Then it was of to the Post Office to pick up our baby chicks.
I ordered 45....10 egg layers and 35 bantams from Cackle Hatchery in Lebanon, MO. They sent 48. One died shortly after getting home. Another died this evening. I expect to lose another 1-2. It's all part of the percentages.
Yep, they are getting lots of love. Do you suppose that love will continue when I ask for help cleaning up after them? :)
"Working" with five kids seems about impossible to make any headway. I got one hanging basket planted. Not so impressive.
Nick had the second part to his physical tonight and then football camp from 6:00-9:00pm. Elijah had to be at the field at 6:30 for a 7:00pm game. Tonight he was the catcher, then the pitcher and then the catcher again. We won by the 10-run rule in the bottom of the 5th. It was 14-2.
Nick's chore for the day was to haul a couple loads of dirt to the garden bed. Nothing too hard, but it was helpful. (I forgot to take a photo...tomorrow).
This is my Princess on her way in the house because "it was too hot out". She's killing me! Okay, 80 can be warm, but it's not too warm. I'm loving the sun and heat although I think it's going to rain tonight.

Tomorrow is another day. I was unable to clean the pool since the filter was clogged and I had no water pressure. Hubby fixed that so maybe there will be progress tomorrow. Also, need to plant a bunch of seeds. Maybe I should get to bed so I can get up early? Nah. It's summer vacation...time to sleep in. I'm off to watch a movie. (If the mosquitoes weren't so bad I could go out and work in the yard since it is still light, but they would eat me up!).
*Wondering why my settings are on Alaska time yet it shows an incorrect post time?? It really is an hour later than what blogger say it is. Any ideas?*

the chicks are so cute. we raised chickens and I think its just part of the process to lose some. what a great idea to put them in the swimming pool.
Dang woman, with all you do when do you get time to take pictures and blog????? LOL.
Love the chickies. I grew up on a farm and we had baby chicks every year. They are so cute. Can't believe that Emily held that box on her lap. Didn't they smell just a wee bit?
Snowbird said exactly what I was gonna say.
It's been warmer in Alaska than here in Florida, the past few days.
Weird......
awww, sweet babies! I loved having ours...now they are huge running around the yard mucking everything up. I NEED to get rid of 2 by Friday.
It's great to see everything coming together and those chicks are the cutest! We missed out on ours at that age because they arrived at point of lay. They've turned out to be great layers and I love having them. Looking forward to seeing yours grow.
The little chicks are SO cute!!
