Olivia says, "Mom, that's a farm song", when country comes on the radio.
Lucas tells me, "Mom, your hair looks funny". Thanks son.
He made it through a few more days and got to play another game on Thursday. Elijah's in blue about to spike the ball. They won this game 25-5!
Since it was the first day of Spring yesterday, we headed into the yard to load the dump truck with dirt....
or not.
Want to go for a swim? Ahh, maybe not yet.
Look! A third jelly bean.
In the Spirit of Spring we took a walk (ride) to get the newspaper.
Hello out there!
We laughed so hard when we saw this.
All on their own, my 2 and 4 year-old got a pump and rubber gloves. They pumped away making balloons. Look at Lucas stand in the bottom of the pump to steady it. How did they think of this? I'm afraid they are too smart for their own good, and I wonder what mischief they will cause together as they get older.
If you like scrap booking go visit Little Black Scrap Cat. She made a Year in Review book that is so awesome. Of course, I only have half a dozen projects going at the moment so I wanted to throw in another. She was able to buy a really neat ring book because she lives in America where there are real stores (as opposed to living in Alaska where there aren't). Anyhow, I couldn't even buy chip board so she suggested recycling. I used cereal boxes, cracker boxes, beer boxes...anything I could get my hands on.
The book on the left (Olivia's) is a purchased book and it was a bad idea. The one on the right (Emily's) is the one I made and it has 2/3 more pages and works a lot better.
Each page is covered with an 8X8 sheet of glitter card stock. I printed small calendars and pasted them to the pages, but haven't gotten any further. They are no where near as fancy as her book is, but I have to make five...one for each child so I work faster and they are less creative. Tomorrow I'll find photos to print for January and February for each child. I have to wait to use up more boxes so the other books won't be put together for awhile.
Oh, look....a 4th jelly bean! I have six more coats cut out and ready to sew, but had to spend the evening in the car (we took Nick the sled and gas for the snowmachine, and Elijah went to a birthday party and then skateboarding). With each coat the design is better. These four will be the back-ups. The rest will be even better. Eventually I'd like to put names on them or a little bling as they are to jelly bean for me! Each coat is custom fit to the dog which probably won't work when they are pregnant so I'm adjusting the Velcro to allow for weight gain.

They may be mischievous, but those kiddos sure are cute!! (the pups-in-coats are cute too...)
Hope you're all having a great weekend!
The photos are fantastic. I had a great time looking at them. I wonder what they were going to do with the rubber gloves after they blew them up?
I like you little 'jelly beans'. I think they look perfect to be covered with bling.
Love the books you are making, will you take photos every now and again so we can see how they are progressing?
Smart kiddos to figure out the pump all by themselves! Love the jellybeans. I made little (big) blankets for my horses in a similar design with velcro. (we only use them overnight in the mountains when they have on summer coats.) Of course, mine took a lot more material!
The scrapbooks look like fun. You're very ambitious to make your own pages.
Hi Gayle,
Can't imagine how you get everything done! I'm sooooo way behind in keeping up with reading my favorite blogs, that I just read your post about a self-portrait!
Are you kidding, girl! Ain't happen'n! If I did that, cyberspace would be in a heap of trouble... probaby even make the stars stop shinning!
I haven't forgotten about posting a "pay it forward". Wanted to make sure I could come up with just the right project to make, just in case I'm lucky enough to get anyone interested.
Your books look like a lot of fun!
Guess you'll be waiting for Spring even longer than I will.
Tell Olivia that I'm a huge fan of "farm songs". That's too cute!
B:-)
Thanks for the tip about the scrapping blog. If it makes you feel any better I have zero stores that carry anything decent as well so I signed up for Stampin Up...I have been buying there products for awhile and there is no consultant in this city so why not.
G'day from Australia, where it is autumn. I came here from Corey's site.
I was in Alaska (briefly) five months ago.
OMG, the pump and the rubber gloves is just too freakin' funny! LOL! Maybe they saw it on a cartoon on TV? Clearly, they will be great co-conspirators for one another while they grow up. ;)

I am giggling at the pump and the gloves. watch out mama. :)
love the scrapbook idea. too fun!
Love the way the first two books turned out Gayle!! Glad I was able to help with some ideas. Even though I have access to LOTS of cool product, I often use found or recycled objects. It's another way to be creative!! Keep up the good work!!
That's a farm song ?! That child needs some edgumacation!
I seriously laughed out loud when I saw the picture of your waving shadow--you are so creative! I find myself thinking at different times throughout the day, "Gayle would be taking a picture of this and where is YOUR camera?" *sigh* You set a high bar! ;)
