Today, Emily, Olivia, Lucas and I drove to theLarge Animal Research Stationto see the Musk Oxen. Apparently, they are kept in the back field during the winter so we didn't see much. It is definitely on our list of places to tour this summer.
Hope you get to go back in summer and maybe you will share some more photos with us. Research station - wonder what exactly they want to know about them. Maybe just watching their habits. :)
Musk oxen have a soft, downy fiber underneath all the hair. It has to be combed off the animal and is very time consuming but it is so worth the work. It is a dream to spin and it is very expensive to buy! If I ever get to Alaska, I'd love to see them and perhaps buy just a little :) Hope you get to go back this summer and see more of them.
They look like they have plenty of hair for winter. I'd love to see them up close if you go back in the summer. Looks like an interesting place from the photos.
Very cool! We drove past there when we were in Fbx, but didn't get to see anything. Allan told me about a lot of jokes kids made back when he lived there, but I always wondered what they REALLY do...so what do they do? :)

I think it will be beautiful there in the summer time. Will you be able to get closer to them at that time?

Musk Oxen are not critters I am going to see here. Very interesting.

Gayle: What a wonderful photo of an animal I only see on film.
Sorry about the fox and your chickens.
Now I'd be willing to bet that's the only picture of these of critter this week! :-)
They look a little like they're cold. :) Will be neat when you can get closer. :)
I look forward to seeing some summer shots.
