A Little Bit of Everything

Here's Elijah and Nick at a beach in Miami, Florida last week. The water is so clear and beautiful. Yes, those very white Alaskan boys burnt.
Elijah has a big shell in hand. They still haven't unpacked so I'm not sure what got brought home.

Little Miss Emily.

Nick and I chased this moose down for y'all. :) That's the baby and the mom was to the left. He was about ten feet from the truck. Nick was doing a very nice job driving and taking photos for me while I gave the orders from the passenger seat! (We were killing time waiting for Elijah's basketball game to start by driving around the neighborhood). Oh, ya, Elijah scored 26 points last night. They were so far ahead he had to be taken out the last 3 minutes so he couldn't score any more. He was on a roll big time! I guess a weekend in the Bahamas is a good thing.

Today, Olivia had another check-up on her eye. Lucas wanted to be in the seat first. She is not lovingly holding his hand, she's trying to pull him out of the chair!

There's that smile. Unfortunately, we are not using the drops/patch enough and her left eye is still 20/400. She can't see squat. She is now going to wear a patch 24/7, and I got to tell you, it isn't fun. She cries and asks to have it off every other minute. That would be the exact reason I haven't been making her wear it enough to do any good. Bad bad Mom. So I am telling myself things could be much much worse and I'm ignoring her pleas. I hug and kiss her, and send her on her way. We have 2 1/2 months until the next appointment and there has to be progress. I can imagine it must be very irritating for her, but I'm hoping after a week or so her pleas will lessen. Either that or it's going to be a long few months.

We have a big winter storm warning. Figures. You know how it rains after you wash your car? Same concept with snow. I shovelled and now look at it. Tuesday it was +20, yesterday it was -30 and today it is +25. Crazy weather!

Big snowflakes and lots of wind. We could get up to 8 inches in some areas. It will probably be my area.

awww, I'm sorry she doesn't like her patch, I wouldn't like it, either! Lots of hugs and kisses will do her well, you are SUCH a great mommy!

Looks like they are enjoying that beach. those moose are cute as long as they keep their distance. I had to wear a patch on my eye when I was little. I pretended I was a spy.

Here in Chicago we are suposed to get your 8" of snow tomorrow night. But we don't get the scenic moose with it. :-(

Olivia is adorable and I am sorry she has to deal with that patch. It must be very hard for her. Maybe she can pretend she is a pirate. Why don't you have a walk the plank day party? Get her a treasure chest and put something special in it each day she doesn't complain. She is so sweet.

The poor little cherub! My little bro had an eye issue as a child. He complained every day as well. It's no fun! Could you knit her a cute little eye patch??? But I think you already tried that one..... I like the walk the plank party idea, and the treasure chest for the days there are no complaints! I'm all about rewarding the good behaviors and trying (ever so hard!!) to ignore, to a degree, the less desirable actions...

Those boys (and girl) look like they were in sunshine heaven!!! Now back to reality, snow and cold!! If their suitcases start to smell you know they found live shells!!!

The moose is cute but the Wee People are cuter! Poor Olivia, I love her little smiley face, can't stand to think of something that makes her sad ;). Stay tough Gayle, it has to be done. {{{{{Olivia and Gayle}}}}}

Your poor baby girl :(

But, as a good mom you need to make sure she has it on. Not that I understand the struggle - I only have furry children. However, even doing the right thing by them can be hard - our big cat (Jonesy) has weight issues... and we need to control the amount he eats. Sometimes those big eyes begging for more food win out.

And hey, great that she isn't kicking ans screeming to get out of the check-up chair. You must have a good eye doctor... good with kids?
