John Tobin Invitational

After dropping the Wee People at the sitter I headed out to North Pole for the John Tobin Invitational (Individual Tournament). Cody did not make weight (140...he was 143) so he wasn't going to wrestle, but since so many didn't make weight they made adjustments or there wouldn't have been a meet. Cody was allowed to wrestle at 145. The problem with 145 is there are a lot of older kids at that weight with the experience he is just now getting.

Cody's first draw was his teammate Brandol who is a Senior and has been wrestling for four years. Cody (right) was pinned in the first period.

Before Cody's next match I raced into town to catch Nick's soccer game. His team won 15-6.
Then it was back to North Pole for the first round of Consolation matches. Cody went up against a kid from North Pole, and was pinned in the first period as well.

I know he is frustrated because he wanted to do so much better, but I am still proud of him. He's working hard and getting better all the time. It will all come with age and experience. I think it was a little tough for him because at the 140 weight class he would have been in the top three for sure. There's another meet on Tuesday and a trip next weekend. He'll have to buckle down, get off the three pounds and keep it off permanently. I know he can do it!

I am here to testify... the only way to keep weight off is to sweat - EVERY day. I hope he likes to sweat!

Tink *~*~* who does not like to sweat, but is doing it anyway because she does not want to buy new clothes a size bigger!

Aw :-( Thats too bad, but at least he's getting the experience. I had an ex who wrestled in High School..and I was amazed..and a little horrified at the stories he used to tell me about how they got the weight off.
And geeze! you running back and forth like that...thats dedication and love.Your kids are very lucky to have a Mom like you that cares enough to support them like you do. :-)
