Oh, I had to add this story....
Three weeks ago I saw a dead black cat at the end of my neighbors driveway. It had been there for at least half the day. How is it that 50 cars can drive by and not stop? I stopped, knocked on her door and told her the news. It was heart-breaking to see her cry.
Yesterday, I am driving home and see a dead black dog on the side of the road. A large dog in an open field of mowed grass. You couldn't miss it yet 50 people had to have driven by. I knocked on the house that mows that ditch. They didn't have a dog and didn't seem to care it was out there. I called the pound and they picked it up.
An hour later I am cooking dinner and it hits me....these things happen in threes (I'm very superstitious). I found two dead black animals. That means there is going to be a third. Then it hits me even harder. I ran out to the animal pen where my precious little black bantam chick that we hatched from an egg who thinks it human and I am its mother is. She was dead. I cried. Apparently, she decided to roost on the edge of the duck pool, fell in and drowned.
I hate that death comes in threes.

Gayle I am so sorry to hear this. I too am superstitious and had nearly gotten up to check on our little black cat before I had gotten to the end of the story. I was both relieved that it wasnt Little Bit and yet saddened by your loss. I am sorry.
