A cucumber in the greenhouse (see the one behind it?)...

...it was a little over nine inches long! Half went in vinegar for Emily and the other half in Dad's salad.

Around the yard...

Helping dad in the yard.

Do you suppose she likes to have her photo taken? :)

Normally I would never, ever show a photo of myself or let one be taken for that matter, but this I had to share. Nick and I were working on cleaning out the connex so it can be moved. This dragonfly was apparently attracted to me. Landed right on my nose and wouldn't leave. It tickled so much while I waited for Nick to get the shot. I shooed it away and it tried to come back!

Gayle...I would like to know about food prices up there. When I go to the store here, a multi grain bread is $3.75 per loaf...half a gallon of skim milk is $2.14...a five pound bag of organic carrots is $3.99.
Cherries at this time of the year are $3.99 a pound. They have taken off a couple ounces from various containers of things are a charging the same amount (ie cereal, crackers etc.). When on sale, we could get 3 boxes of spaghetti for $1...now it is $.89 each. Where I get gas for my car, it is $4.21 per gallon (yesterday) and it will probably be $5 shortly. Lori
ps, your cucumbers look great! We don't have any yet, but we have been eating a lot of spinach and strawberries.
Gayle...Tina is a good friend of mine and also one of my art students. She is the one responsible for me having this Journal as she tuned me onto the Bedlam Farm site and the next day I started. Her dog, DJ, is also a Therapy Dog like Phoebe and they are real pals.
Anyway, Tina got a fabulous camera, and I enjoy posting pictures that she has taken.

Wow...how on earth do you grow such great cukes????? cucumbers hate me. I love the dragonfly pic..that is too funny! I'd prefer a dragonfly to the black biting flies that seem to like me. Great pics...I love seeing what is going on at your place..you guys do so much fun stuff :-)
Gayle! Too funny about the dragonfly. At least they don't bite. Down here in Florida, we have these little guys called noseeums, aka "teeth with wings". Oh, the itch! :D

Glad you liked the tomatoes. Since I have had horses (for 29 years), hay has gone from $1.00 a bale to what should be around $3.50 a bale this year. They are only 35 or 40 pounds. I do not use round bales as I can't take a chance on mold. I have no idea as to how much they cost. Before I lost Shenna, I was getting anywhere from 1100-1300 bales each summer. This year that number will be reduced to under 1000.
Oh my goodness! Awesome shots! That dragonfly picture is priceless!
And hey, you might be a procrastinator with reading your manual, but I haven't even put my cucumbers in the ground yet! Who's laughing now?
Oh and I have no idea what the date and city is on the hydrant, but next time I get back to that location I will see if I can find it through the rust and peeling paint!
Nice pictures. My daughter would eat that cucumber before I could even wash it. She loooooves cukes. Right out the fridge, she eats them like apples.
I don't think I would want a dragonfly on my face, but amazing you had the patience to get that shot.
Thanks for visiting my blog, Send Chocolate, and commenting. I appreciate it.

Love the dragonfly photo!!!
My older daughter was such a ham when she was about your daughter's age. Now she totally suffers through having her picture taken, complaining all the way, but, if I don't take her picture she complains about that too.
I am jealous of your cucumbers, I can't get anything to grow out here.
Goodness at the size your growing them, you could supply a local restaurant!
What in the world did you put in your fertilizer??
By the way, the kids look awesome, healthy and FULL of Summer!!
